Feldenkrais Education offers a 4-year professional training course to become a certified Feldenkrais Method practitioner, in Brussels. This training will enable you not only to teach the method, but also to profoundly change the quality of your life. You’ll discover an unexplored part of your human potential.

Whether your intention is to improve everyday movement, recover from injury, unlearn chronic pain, enhance performance, or accompany others through physical, emotional, or psychological challenges, the training provides the tools to make a real difference.

Facilitators

Originally from New Mexico, Scott trained as a dancer after taking a BSc in mathematics. During an extensive career as a performer and dance teacher, he investigated many of the physical disciplines used by dancers to augment their training. This led him to the work of Moshe Feldenkrais, which he began studying in 1982, and he enrolled in the first London Feldenkrais Professional Training Programme, from which he graduated in 1990. Since 1997 Scott has devoted his teaching entirely to Feldenkrais, working with individuals from all walks of life and with groups of the public from Finland to Ecuador. He

Yvo, originally from Belgium, is a certified Feldenkrais practitioner. He graduated from Myriam Pfeffer’s training in Paris in 2009. Since 2016 he works as an assistant trainer. He teaches at the Conservatoire National d’Art Dramatique de Paris CNSAD, where, in addition to theater, he has set up an important program of Feldenkrais classes with PCM and IF for students. A Belgian national, Yvo has studied various forms of physical and burlesque theater, and has worked as an actor and director internationally. Pia Appelquist has been a certified Feldenkrais practitioner since 2010, and a certified assistant trainer since 2019. She is of Danish nationality but has lived and worked in France since 1990. Pia Appelquist studied anthropology and then pursued a career as a professional actress. Upon starting the Feldenkrais training, she decided to dedicate herself fully to the Feldenkrais Method. She is co-founder of the Beliashe Institute – Center for Arts and Human Potential, in Aurillac. Who is Brussels IV – Feldenkrais Training designed for?

Traditionally, Feldenkrais Method training programs have brought together a wide variety of students. In keeping with this idea, we aim to bring together a group of people with diverse life experiences and interests, working in a wide range of professions. There are a number of reasons why participants may be attracted to the training program. Some are looking to develop their professional activity, bring new perspectives to it, or reinforce skills they already possess. Others may wish to develop a new occupation and join a profession that is rich in learning, and become self-employed. Still others want to start down a path of personal fulfillment. Or they may simply want to deepen their understanding of the Feldenkrais Method. Whatever the motivation, each participant will learn at his or her own pace, while progressing with the group.

What facilities does Forest Lighthouse offer?

The centre includes two changing rooms, a small coffee and tea area, a kitchen for breaks, and a library with many books on movement, learning, and somatic practices. Mats and basic equipment are available on site.

How do I get to Forest Lighthouse?

Forest Lighthouse is located in Forest, Brussels, and is easy to reach by public transport, including tram 82 and bus 50. For detailed directions, please see the Visit page.

How accessible is the centre?

The main hall, Canopy Hall, currently requires taking stairs. The ground-floor studio is accessible for wheelchair users. If you need specific access support, please contact us in advance.

What should I bring?

Comfortable clothing is recommended. You are welcome to bring water and a notebook if you would like to take notes.

What kind of movement should I expect?

Depending on the activity, the work may happen on the floor, seated, standing, or in motion. The exact format is described on each event page.

When should I arrive?

We aim to begin activities on time, so we recommend arriving a few minutes early.

Can I come on my own?

Yes, absolutely. Many participants come on their own. You are also welcome to bring a friend.

What is Forest Lighthouse?

Forest Lighthouse is a centre for somatic and neurosomatic education in Brussels. We explore embodied learning through movement, perception, cognition, and emotional awareness. Our aim is to create the right conditions for learning so each person can discover and develop their abilities through direct experience.

What kinds of classes and trainings do you offer?

We organise workshops, regular classes, private sessions, and professional training programmes. These activities explore different approaches to embodied learning and movement, often with internationally recognised teachers and practitioners.

Who are the events and activities for?

Most activities are open to beginners unless stated otherwise. Somatic education is not about performance or flexibility. It is about learning through attention and exploration, at your own pace. If you have an injury or a particular condition, please let us know in advance.
